A Church Family In Monticello
Our Story
The Monticello Church of Christ was established in 1957 by a small group of dedicated families gathered together with a shared desire to follow Christ and His word. As the congregation grew, they met in several locations before purchasing property at the corner of Railroad and Market St in 1959 - and completed construction in 1962. Though our original building was destroyed by the tornado that hit Monticello in 1974, it was rebuilt that year and continues to serve as the meeting place for the congregation. Since then, our mission has remained the same, to faithfully follow Christ, grow together in His Word and share His love and truth with the Monticello community.
What We Believe
-
We Believe In Biblical Authority: The Bible is the only guide for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)

-
We Believe In The Trinity: Belief in one God existing as Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

-
We Believe That Jesus Christ is God's Son: who died for our sins, was buried, and resurrected; He is the head of the church. (John 1:1,14; 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

-
We Believe Salvation: is achieved by God's grace through faith in Christ, repentance, confession, and baptism for the remission of sins. (2 Peter 3:9; Romans 10:9-10; 6:3-4; Acts 2:38)

-
We Believe Baptism: is for anyone who wants to accept or has accepted the teachings and call of Jesus Christ. All those who are willing to repent of their sins and confess their faith in Christ should be baptized. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39).
